The first Nymphaea hybrid water lily of the season burst forth this week. The bright red against the green surroundings demanded attention.

Using a Micro lens, a tool normally known for close-up applications, in this case the telephoto qualities of the lens were utilized. The tree leaves of the foreground were thrown out of focus to enhance the still life composition of the lone water lily in a thriving pond.
