The southern edge of the Sangre de Cristo Range in the Rocky Mountains includes Blanca Peak, the highest point in the range. At 14,344 feet Blanca Peak tops nearby Twin Peaks, California Peak, and Mount Lindsey. The Great Sand Dunes National Park is situated in the San Luis Valley on the western flank of this mountain range. This was the view as seen from Southwest Airlines flight 1098, seat 4F, at approximately 35,000 feet.
